Qualities: Surrender, Devotion

Lord Ram, an incarnation of Vishnu was a benevolent king married to Sita, a devoted wife. They were banished from the kingdom for 14 years. The demon king Ravana, stole Sita away and took her to his kingdom in Sri Lanka.

This is a story of Hanuman, the monkey god who is also known as “Son of the Wind.” In order to rescue Sita, Hanuman the most loyal devotee of Ram was assigned the task to save her from Ravana. He crossed the ocean that was paved with many obstacles. Hanuman successfully leapt over the expansive ocean to reach Sita; a true leap of faith.

Later, there was a fateful battle between Rama and Ravana, where Lakshman, Rama’s brother was critically wounded. Hanuman again made a mighty leap to Himalayas, in northern India, to bring back healing herbs. Since he didn’t know which herbs to take, he decided to carry back the whole mountain! Hanuman could do the impossible, due to his intense devotion and faith in Rama. When Hanuman gave up all of his power, he discovered that he was more powerful than ever.
Yoga Sutra

“Samadhi is attained by devotion with the total dedication to God, Ishwara.” YS 1.23
